New Work
These will be updated and added to from time to time, both with completely new photographs taken recently and with older ones that I want to add to the collection.
Of the photographs currently on this page, the three European ones have very different backgrounds.
The beach in Vlieland dates from 2016 when we took the boat through the canals of Holland, across the Waddenzee to the island of Vlieland. I was absolutely enchanted by the sight of so many sailing barges just - apparently - below sea level, all wonderfully lit by the sun against a clear, blue sky. It was spectacular. So much so, that I did something I have never done before and had this printed at 1 meter wide (and 40 cm high)!
Cafe Nick, in the artists' quarter of Copenhagen, has a long and interesting history. I knew it in the mid 70's but went back to photograph it more recently. Hanne Broström whose portrait decorates the end wall, was one of many painters, philosophers, poets, anarchists, and musicians who frequented it in those days. Painters would pay for their drinks with a painting, and there are many paintings by Hanne on the walls (and I have one at home!).
Flamenco was actually photographed in the South of France, the home of many Spanish immigrants who have taken their culture with them.
Further away, Folly Beach was taken in South Carolina. Again, I also printed this very large at 1 meter wide and 60 cm high. Really fun!
